Siapa Itu Newt Scamander?

Potterheads semua pasti sudah tahu bahwa spin-off dari seri Harry Potter yang berjudul Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them akan dibuat dalam bentuk film. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sendiri bercerita tentang perjalanan Newt Scamander dimana ia menemukan banyak makhluk-makhluk ajaib yang menakjubkan.

Sebenarnya siapa itu Newt Scamander? Apa pengaruhnya dalam dunia sihir? Mari kita berkenalan dengan sosok dibalik Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander.

Newt Scamander

Newton Artemis Fido "Newt" Scamander (Order of Merlin, Kelas Kedua) lahir pada tahun 1897. Ia adalah seorang Magizoologist (orang yang mempelajari tentang makhluk-makhluk ajaib) terkenal dan penulis buku Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Scamander menaruh minat yang sangat besar terhadap makhluk-makhluk sihir pada masa mudanya. Setelah menyelesaikan pendidikannya di Sekolah Sihir Hogwarts, Scamander bekerja di Kementerian Sihir bagian Relokasi Peri-Rumah, kemudian ia dipindahkan ke bagian Makhluk Ajaib. 



Pada tahun 1918, Augustus Worme dari Obscurus Books menawarkan Scamander untuk menulis buku Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Scamander yang hanya mendapat dua Sickles setiap minggu selama bekerja di Kementerian, mengambil kesempatan tersebut untuk mendapatkan pengalaman dan uang tambahan dengan menghabiskan libur musim panasnya berkeliling dunia, menemui banyak makhluk-makhluk sihir yang menakjubkan.

Scamander melakukan perjalanan ke seratus negara di lima benua, mengamati banyak makhluk ajaib. Dia belajar tentang kemampuan mereka, mendapatkan kepercayaan mereka, dan kadang-kadang mengalahkan mereka jika mereka terlalu berbahaya. Pada akhir 1910-an atau awal 1920-an, Scamander melakukan perjalanan ke New York, mungkin sambil melakukan penelitian tentang makhluk ajaib. 

Dengan segera buku Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them menjadi best seller, membuat Scamander menjadi salah satu Magizoologist yang terkenal dalam sejarah dunia sihir. Scamander menikah dengan seorang wanita bernama Porpentina dan mereka dikaruniai satu anak. Pada awal 1990-an, Scamander memilih untuk pensiun dan tinggal di Dorset.

Ini Dia Sekuel dari "The Cuckoo's Calling", "The Silkworm"

Sekuel dari novel detektif pertama karya Robert Galbraith alias J.K. Rowling, "The Cuckoo's Calling" akan segera dirilis! Buku dengan judul "The Silkworm" ini akan rilis di UK pada 24 Juni mendatang.

Berikut adalah sinopsis dari The Silkworm.

 

"Ketika novelis Owen Quine hilang, istrinya menemui detektif swasta Cormoran Strike. Pada awalnya, Nyonya Quine hanya berpikir suaminya pergi sendiri untuk beberapa hari–seperti yang pernah dilakukannya–dan dia ingin Strike menemukannya dan membawanya pulang.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter akan hadir di Universal Studios Hollywood

Kabar baik untuk Potterheads di seluruh dunia, akhirnya Wizarding World of Harry Potter akan hadir di Universal Studios Hollywood pada 2016 mendatang,  seperti yang di-tweet @HarryPotterFilm di akun Twitter-nya

 "It's official! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to @UniStudios Hollywood in 2016!"

Rupert Grint Photoshoot for The Hunger Magazine!

Rupert Grint took part in a photoshoot for The Hunger Magazine.
The magazine has given us a sneak peak of the shoot on their Instagram and it looks to be absolutely amazing:

We do not yet have specific news on when we will see these pictures, but when photographer Neil Bedford tweeted this weekend that he would be photographing Rupert this coming week, we did contact Rupert‘s reps. They responded that this shoot would be for a magazine to be released in November. We don’t know yet if this is a completely different shoot (and Rupert is being a busy busy bee) or the same one. We will look into this further. UPDATE: We have just uploaded a bunch of screencaps from the video – that way you can all drool over this shoot one amazing image at a time. Go ahead, clicky click! 
UPDATE #2: So it looks like this shoot was done by photographer Rankin. Which means Rupert will be doing another photoshoot this week… it’s definitely time to do a little happy-dance – it looks like we’re going to have loads of news to look forward to.

UPDATE #4: And the updates just keep coming. We have just recieved word from the magazine that Rupert came in for an interview last week and that they’ll have the photoshoot and interview out in their Hunger 5 issue in mid September.

Rupert Grint Doing a Photoshoot for FHM Today!

We are being spoiled with Rupert Grint news this week. Two days ago, Rupert did the amazing shoot for Hunger magazine, which you can read all about here. Today, he is doing a photoshoot for FHM and we are being given small goodies from set already. George Winstone is tweeting from the set and even gave us a nice look at Rupert and his outfit for this shoot:

J.K. Rowling’s new book ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ receives 300,000-copy second printing

Little Brown imprint Mulholland Books has announced that their second print run of The Cuckoo’s Calling, J.K. Rowling’s new book which she secretly published in April, will begin shipping this week.

300,000 copies will be printed and sent to suppliers who are struggling to meet demand since Rowling revealed she’s Robert Galbraith over the weekend.
Yesterday we told you that Barnes & Noble and Amazon had run out of their stock of the hardback entirely while libraries around the world had waiting lists with hundreds of people on them. In many brick-and-mortar Barnes & Nobles in the United States, each store had only two to four copies maximum.
Naturally, once word got around that Rowling was behind the new book these limited quantities sold out quick.
Prior to Rowling’s announcement the book had only sold 1,500 copies in the United Kingdom (a U.S. figure has not been released).
The Cuckoo’s Calling will be a series of crime novels. Book two will hit store shelves in the summer of 2014.
The reprint will including Rowling’s name in the author biography section at the end of the book. Needless to say, the original print run without her name is now a very valuable commodity.
Reviews for Rowling’s second post-Potter book have been strong so far. We’ll have our own review up soon. Check out the latest episode of our Harry Potter podcast MuggleCast in which we discuss our initial (spoiler-free) reactions to Rowling’s decision.
